Medication at school
Utah law states that medication may only be administered to a student by school personnel if the student’s legal guardian has provided a current written and signed request by a physician stating that medication must be administered to the student during regular school hours, and that the statement describes the exact method, amount, and time schedule for administration. In addition, before medication can be administered at school a medical plan must be developed with the school nurse, guardians and school staff (this includes all inhalers, as well as prescribed and over the counter medication). All medication should be brought to the office by the parent. Please see our office staff for the required forms that must be on file.
PLEASE NOTE: Students may not have any medication in their possession, including over the counter medications such as cough drops or ibuprofen. This is for the safety of all students.
